What do you do when tomatoes or okra ares still producing, but you want to add new Fall plants to the garden? Why keep the old plants too, of course! They will maintain soil biology and provide shade over the heat of the day for new plants. You will need to add additional compost to fill your plot to the top of the box (just dont pile up against okra stalk), add 10 lbs worm castings/100 square feet, 1 lb azomite, and 2 lbs organic fertilizer. We mulched, then scraped mulch aside for new transplants--which is easier than hand placing mulch around already planted transplants. Good luck gardeners, start your gardens!
