What do you think about the recently agreed Cooperation program between the European Union and Nepal? Yesterday, the EU and Nepal officially agreed to a new seven-year EU-Nepal cooperation program with an aim to boost rural development and job creation in Nepal. The € 365 or Rs 44.8 billion program will focus on sectors such as education, sustainable rural development and strengthening democracy. During the signing of the program, the Commissioner for Development Andris Piebalgs said the new cooperation program is a sign of enhancing relations between Nepal and EU. Finance Minister Dr Mahat said despite the difficulties Nepal achieved significant progress in different sectors. He mentioned that poverty level that stood at 49 percent in the early 1990s has come down to 23.8 percent. With determination and persistence Nepal can overcome the challenges ahead to further expand opportunities, well paid jobs and better livelihoods for people in the country, he stated. #EUinNepal
