What happened in Okrika over the weekend replicates itself mostly down Southern Nigeria everytime. The poor man or woman,parent to some moneybags in the city would live a near poverty-stricken life - severely austere life.But when he or she dies,then whatever that was used to hold the money back in his/her lifetime would be loosened. A new palatial home would be built,the local church would be renovated if not demolished to give way to a brand new one. The roads leading to the village would be refurbished or tarred if you were Patience Jonathan. If the dead had any clue about these transformation on her/his account she/he would summon up the last courage to slap such a way-ward and wicked child. We love to honour the dead.What a transformation from a neglected living - the walking dead so to say to a pampered Dead! We are hypocrites,the types our Lord referred to in his gospels. In our Animal Farm some fingers are more equal than others. Like the 30 dead in Anambra and the 30 dead in Damaturu - all confined to some miserable graves,unsong!
