What happens when a farmer under contract with one of the Big Ag - TopicsExpress

What happens when a farmer under contract with one of the Big Ag companies speaks the truth about the conditions in factory farms? He gets attacked by the very company that has dictated those conditions. Perdue, like all the vertically integrated poultry companies, owns the chickens, supplies the farmer with both the baby chicks and the feed they are given throughout their life, and has a detailed contract with the farmer specifying the conditions under which they are kept, including the amount of space each bird is given and the lack of outdoor access. But as noted in the update on this story, Perdue is busy denying that it is responsible for the terrible conditions in the flocks that it owns and controls, and instead responded by auditing the farmer who dared speak out to tell Americans the truth about what theyre eating. --> wired/2014/12/cwif-craigwatts-perdue
