What if 9/11 had not happened? What might be the political consequences of such an alternate history? We probably would not have TSA grope-and-scope squads. The Fed would not have injected a massive amount of cash into the system just after 9/11, and this would have led to smaller booms, smaller busts, a more stable economy, less inflation and lower unemployment today. We might have avoided several wars, although there are some who say that the "export democracy through bombs" plan was already in the pipeline. We might have avoided the PATRIOT act, the warrantless snooping, the DHS, and others. We might not be saying "everything changed since 9/11."
