What is Ayurvedic body constitution Ayurveda is based upon the three energies governing all the functions in the body Modern medicine is based on the structure of the body whereas Ayurveda is based on the energies behind the structure The five elements like space, air, fire, water and earth which is known as pancha mahabhutas in Ayurveda give rise to three doshas or humors Vata is made of air and ether Vata is the energy of action, transportation and movement Vata is dry, light, cold, rough, subtle and mobile Pita is made of fire and water Pitta is the energy of transformation, conversion and digestion Pitta is oily, sharp, hot, light, acidic, spreading and liquid Kapha is made of water and earth Kapha is the energy of construction, lubrication and nourishment Kapha is cold, cloudy, heavy, moist, static, sticky, soft, slow and smooth Every individual has all three doshas but many of us have 1 or 2 dominant humors or doshas Vata people are generally slim and tender, oval face, dry skin, thin hair, small joints long fingers.
