What is Judgement of Paris in Greek mythology? For the marriage of King Peleus and Thetis all gods and goddesses were invited except Eris, the goddess of strife and discord.When she came to attend the function she was stopped at the door by Hermes, the messenger of gods.She threw inside a golden apple with inscription for the fairest .The goddesses Athena,Hera and Aphrodote claimed the apple.Other gods did not want to give their opinion as they wanted to avoid the wrath of the three goddesses.Zeus,the king of gods also could not decide and so he referred them to Paris,the prince of Troy.Paris also could not decide.Each of the three goddesses lured him.Athena offered wisdom and skills.Hera tod him that he will be made the king of all Asia.Aphrodite offered him the love of the most beautiful woman of the world,Helen.Paris judged Aphrodite to be the fairest of all the three goddesses.This judgement later on led to The Trojan War.
