What is too conservative? Lately I have been faced with a philosophical dilemma. My ethos of life thus far has been to take just enough risk to be successful. I find that in practice being conservative means that you never take enough risk to win. I assert that being conservative both socially and fiscally amounts to a pessimistic outlook. To take risk there must be an assumption that the risk will pay off which requires an optimistic outlook. If you are unwilling to take risk then your outlook must be too negative to accept the risk. We dont hear success stories for people who didnt take risk. No one ever says, playing it safe paid dividends for me. Every success story socially or fiscally includes taking risks.
