What you have all been waiting for... SCA Summer Reading Incoming Fifth Graders Incoming fifth graders are to read the book, From the Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler, by E.L. Konigsburg. After reading the book, students will need to complete the project outlined below. On the first day of school, a copy of the book and the completed file folder project are to be brought to class. This book will be the basis of the reading program during the first week of school. Folder Book Report: You will need: A file folder Lined notebook paper One sheet of unlined paper Crayons/Colored Pencils – No markers! Scissors and Glue Directions: 1. Read From the Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler 2. Read the book by yourself. 3. Get a file folder. 4. Decorate the front cover of the folder with the book title, author, your name, and a colorful picture about the book. 5. Write a summary of the book on lined paper (use pencil please). Glue it on the inside left of the folder. 6. On a half-sheet of unlined paper, draw an important event or fact from the book. Label it so that we know what it represents. Glue the drawing on the inside of the folder at the top of the right side. 7. On a half-sheet of lined paper, write your opinion of the book. Be sure to tell why you did or didn’t like the book. Glue it on the inside of the folder at the bottom of the right side. 8. Draw and label the important characters on the back of the folder. 9.
