Whats wrong with this picture? Driving down the road my mom and I spotted 5 chickens. While we do live in a rural area, none of our neighbors have free-range chickens. They just wouldnt survive. I looked closer, 5 roosters. Immediately I know this means they have been dropped off. Roosters are mostly useless animals used just for reproduction and there arent the kind that are tasty. Having no means to capture them, we drove past and devised a plan. First puck up feed in town, come back to see if theyre still there, then back home for a cage or live trap. They were there, darn it, the universe was looking out for these fellas. And my mom has a soft spot for abandoned animals, even if she did swear a lot and do it grudgingly. 3 of herded and trapped 2, then another chicken, finally returning for the last two at night and easily grabbing them from the trees. No wonder theyre such easy prey at night. Here they are. I even got a chicken selfie! I named them Lucky, Lucky, Lucky, Lucky and Lucky
