What’s On and News ******** Keeping in Touch ******** There are many ways to keep in touch with what is happening at the club. For general members we have the FB page…. Wallingford Rugby Club. This page offers the most instant updates on key events and news and we encourage all members to like the page. ******** Congratulations ******** Go out to Murray Bellis, Tom Bishop, Sam Clarkson, Tom Guthrie, George Probyn and Ted Pullin (U16) who have all made it through the first round of selection for the SW divisional games. In 3 of the last 4 years the divisional pathway has produced U16 England honours for our club but we have never had 6 go through in to this stage before. Well done boys. ******** David Keable Memorial Match ******** This Saturday 4th October sees the David Keable memorial match. The match will see a host of players from past and present taking on the 1st team to raise funds in the memory of a long term WRFC stalwart. All funds raised will be used by the Keable family for their chosen charities. The match kicks off at 3 and is followed by an evening of cluedo around the hostelries of Wallingford. All are welcome to support the event. ******** The return of the thirds ******** On the 7th October at 19:00 the mighty thirds return for a friendly against a new and developing club , Royal Logistics Corps Development RFC. For those of you who remember the thirds is a mixture of the aged who should know better, the slightly infirm but can’t quiet give it up, the middle aged who haven’t played since school and sometimes youngsters who want to show off by running circles around the old guys. For many seasons we played thirds regularly but for the last three have not been able to so it is great to see the guys coming out of retirement (some for the third or fourth time). This really should be a fun evening as that is what 3rds is all about so get down and support them on the 7th. If you are interested in playing socially then please contact Skip (Guy Hewitt) via FB or on guy.hewitt1@gmail Maidens, 16s, and others please note you will need to find alternative training on this night. ******** A Titanic Termination ******** Friday 24th October sees our first social of the season is ……. A murder mystery evening. littlechicoproductions.co.uk presents an evening of detective work, fun, food, wine and beer for those who have the brain to work out who dun it? Tickets cost £25.00 which includes food. ******** The weekend Ahead ******** Saturday 4th The David Keable Memorial Match K.O’s 3:00 Sunday 5th Senior Development Squad featuring 3 U16s kicked off their league schedule with a good away win at Witney last weekend but face a tougher test with Banbury visiting the Hithercroft for a 2pm KO, this weekend Maidens – training U16s are away to Abingdon in their first league fixture. U15s are at home to Abingdon in their first EVER league fixture. U14s. Are away at Newbury. U13s. Have the traditional opening weekend 15 a side tournament at Henley Minis away at the Grove festival Des Le Roy President Wallingford RFC
