Whelp, my PS4 just arrived so there goes anything productive I was meant to do today. (You guys are cool with a shorter issue next time, right?) The good news is that the initial set-up was way quicker than anticipated. By the time I got around to trying to update the console with its day one patch after cruising the dashboard for a couple of minutes, I realised it was already updating itself in the background and was nearly finished - very slick. I obviously cant guarantee that it will go that smoothly on launch day when thousands of people are trying to do the same thing at the same time, but thus far everything has worked very well. The UI is snappy and responsive and the controller feels great. The slanted console design doesnt look quite as sleek on a shelf next to other non-slopey devices as it did on display at expos, but its a stylish, compact piece of hardware nonetheless. Also, you can use the same cables that are attached to your PS3 - just switch the console over and youre plugged in. Its a tiny little touch, but the less time spent around the back of your TV the better. Killzone and ACIV, the two games Ive tried so far, both loaded quickly, and I was able to start them well before the installation (also going on in the background) was finished. I wasnt timing them, but I can say that I was playing well before waiting became irritating. The biggest problem Im having at the moment is finding a place for it amongst all the last-gen consoles. I dont know anything about the stock market, but if you can invest in IKEA TV cabinet shares, nows probably a good time. - Dave
