When I read the story of Maryam (may Allah be pleased with her) I - TopicsExpress

When I read the story of Maryam (may Allah be pleased with her) I begin to see another perspective in life. Here was a young girl who became a symbol, a legend in history - timeless. Through her I seek inspiration to be a righteous believer, morally upright, a devout worshipper, a dedicated mother, an honorable citizen and a confident and passionate woman in the face of all trials. More importantly, to aim high, totally for the sake of Allah. She was a woman who came from a morally good family who aimed high in their lives - their goodness affected her outlook in life. She was sent to a place of worship to dedicate her life to Allah, she didnt complain, grieve or fall into mistakes. She embraced her surroundings and used her resources to develop a connection with Allah azza wa jal, which was so deep that she was chosen to mother the mightiest of the Messengers of Allah, Jesus (may Allah be pleased with him). Lesson: Success doesnt come overnight and the best form of activism begins with an internal reformation. Here is the thing, she was bought up in a home of rigorousness and then through the permission of Allah, she became a single mother - which many would label as a dysfunctional family - this was the plan of Allah. Allah azza wa jal is continuously throughout history planting situational seeds which once planted in our minds, help us see another perspective in our lives. If we want to change our perspective then we *must* read the stories of those who have passed. We encounter Superstars who fell to the ground due to their mistakes, only to see them rise again to become examples which remind us that we can BE, even when it is easy to fall and lose hope. Here is another example, were the family of Maryam (may Allah be pleased with her) known to be wealthy? No. There goes the iPads, the iPhones and the designer clothes. Were they known to be popular? In some sense, yes, and in another sense, no - only by those who appreciated them in a light which penetrated their hearts due to their eman. In our times, we value everything which is temporary - celebrities, material goods, forgetting, that these shall pass, what matters, is the impact we create - be it in our homes, or our communities and more importantly, our faith - a deep connection with Allah, the Creator of all. I can delve, I can go deeper, but for us, it should be a motivation to learn about these symbols, who have the ability to create legends within us all. These stories excite me, give me a reason to live a life that is more than what some expect of me, because I have enlightening examples which teach me to be better than I ever believed I could be. # Legends ~~ Sis.
