When I set this page up, my intention was to broaden how much people knew about disability bodybuilding, to hopefully encourage and possibly inspire/motivate more disabled people to get involved and to see if we could get more competitions to include the category, and the more I compete, hopefully the more Ill make a name for myself (hopefully a decent one!). I am just three months into running this page and the response from all corners has been amazing-The amount of people who have taken an interest/helped to promote the page, has been a hell of a lot more than Id imagined, the competitions that have included the category this year has gone up and up and the number of competitors in both the male and female disabled categories is going up constantly. When I competed at Pure Elite, I was one of four males and there was one female disabled competitor. It seems the number of potential male competitors could well be in to double figures and at least three females. This is brilliant and its certainly becoming a category people are sitting up and taking notice of. It wont be something that phases out, only expands and its exciting times. Who knows where or how big this category will be amongst the bodybuilding world in five years time, but with the continued positive exposure and people all helping to raise the profile and now disabled people knowing that theres another route they can take, it shows the benefits that social media can, at times, provide.
