When I was about 17/18 in 1967/68 I was working at 2KO on air and also writing and taking photos of Newcastle Bands and bands visiting Newcastle for Australias groundbreaking Rock Magazine GO-SET - I saw lots and lots of Bands .... one of those groups was Velvet Underground (not the US band of the same name with Lou Reed witch was manager by Andy Warhol) ...... The Newcastle Velvet Underground were spectacular and musically brilliant and they had a few lineup changes along the way .... in the final lineup it had some now well known members included Les Hall, Herman Kovak (later to be in The Ted Mulry Gang), respected Newcastle muso David Schofield and one Malcolm Young (now of course AC/DC) .... we were all friends back then and I remember the times fondly ... We heard today that AC/DC will no longer tour or record and I have it on good authority that sadly we are about to hear that Malcolm Young is terminally ill ... how sad is that? What a great band AC/DC have been ....
