When SHTF you will need Good warm Clothing “Smart Clothes Or Hip Clothes? One Pair Of Clothing That Can Save Your Life” I’m talking about COLD weather here. Remember our rule of 3’s? The most important condition for your survival beyond your next breath? Having shelter and staying warm. Avoiding exposure and hypothermia. It can take as little as 3 hours to die from exposure. It doesn’t have to be below freezing. I have never been so cold and incapacitated as when I was caught unprepared in the Northern Mountains of Quebec. It was 40 degrees Fahrenheit and raining. In less than an hour I was shivering uncontrollably and losing muscle motor skills. Good thing my truck was only an hour hike away. Fools sometimes get second chances. What did I learn from that experience? Cotton Kills! More specifically, wet cotton kills. Cotton is the worst clothing to have against any part of your skin when it gets wet. Nothing will keep you warm as it lays like a wet sponge against your skin, sucking the heat and life out of your body. Do not put cotton clothing in your go-bag! Okay, what should you use? You want to have a pair of the best thermal underwear you can buy. Don’t skimp on this. There are only two fabric choices that you should consider. A polyester synthetic and stodgy old-fashioned wool. Advantages of polyester synthetics: Lightweight. Drys quickly. Can wear wet and won’t freeze your ass off. Moderate price.
