When We Honor Someone We Put Their Comfort, Needs And Desires Before Our Own, We Appreciate Their Uniqueness And The Special Gifts God Has Given Them. To honor means to see the value or worth of a person, to esteem them, to regard them as precious. It is to understand the great price Jesus paid for that person on the cross and to value and treat them accordingly. When we hold this view it makes the most lowly person of great significance and worth. No one can be dismissed as insignificant because of a lack of intelligence, education, sophistication or beauty or because of race, culture, religion or nationality or simply because they are different than us. This is simple when we are talking about people who we love or think are cool, but it is those difficult people; the odd ones that make it hard to do. Jesus said, “If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that?”
