When are these champions of hudud going to realise that hudud law is just PART of an Islamic system of government which is nowhere near present in Malaysia- or anywhere else in the world for that matter? To implement hudud without implementing the rest is an overly simplistic, unrealistic approach which smacks of cheap popular politicking and insincerity. Islam is a way of life- it is a system of government and it is an economic and social system all in itself. Take it all or take nothing. In Islam there are no Sultans, there is no special race, there are no political parties... and there is a tax rate of 2.5% for zakat which goes to specific purposes. Itll take a LOT more than having one criminal justice system for Muslims and another for non-Muslims before we have a working, EQUITABLE, system. Are we ready to embrace all that? No Sultans? No Bumiputeras? No Income Tax, No GST, No cukai pintu, no cukai taksiran? I think not so lets not pretend we are being all righteous and Islamic by getting on this gravy train. It is no more than a tool for some politicians to grab a perceived moral high ground by trying to convince us that we are not good Musims if we dont get behind them on this (and by extension therefore- on other things). You can be a good and righteous Muslim in a Christian country.... you can even be a good and righteous Muslim in an atheist country. You dont need to live in a quasi-Islamic state to be a Muslim.... and its time we Muslims start realising that.
