When my wife and I got married almost 20 years ago, our wedding - TopicsExpress

When my wife and I got married almost 20 years ago, our wedding vows included a promise that we would never pass up an animal in need. In addition to our work on animal protection: nokilladvocacycenter.org, we’ve also rescued hundreds of animals. And that is why we live with a little cat: nathanwinograd/?p=3935, a cat from Hawaii: on.fb.me/17vwGFs, as well as a pigeon with one leg and another with nerve damage: nathanwinograd/?p=6400. Our kids have also embraced that credo. Our daughter has brought home all kinds of creatures who needed help: from a container of rolly pollies she saved from a science class, an injured bee who couldnt fly, and Herbie, a snail with a broken shell, who we rehabbed and released: on.fb.me/14hN0dW. As I posted yesterday, the latest batch is five fish who were part of an “art” project at her school: on.fb.me/1mPGzan As you’ll see from the first photo of the plastic bin with the colored file folders, this was no art. It was heartbreaking. One of them even got stuck pressed against the bin and one of those damn file folders. When she brought them home, we transferred them to a little holding tank that, though too small, was at least clean and open. It was all we had. Yesterday, we went out and bought a 29 gallon tank complete with a shipwreck, until we are able to research other options, including a pond and aquascaping. We’re grateful for all the advice people gave us and while we explore those things, at least they’ll have a little elbow room to go about their fishy business.
