When so-called Christian extremists in Sweden attacked mosques, the ordinary Swedish people did not sit in silence. They took to the streets to show their love and tell the Muslims that the majority did not support such violence. Extremists ride on the silence of the majority. If the majority fail to rise up and reclaim their religion, then they become responsible for whatever is done in the name of the religion. The #Eminent25 first made their stand and declared that the extreme fringe DO NOT speak for them. This was followed by a popular petition #Iam26, that soared to more than 5000 signatures within a week. Another 11 eminent Muslims have joined the original 25 and we now have the #Eminent36 calling for national and inclusive dialogue. The Voice of Moderation must rise if this nation wishes to avoid being drowned in extremism, hatred and violence.
