When students have trouble writing I ask them to send me ONE paragraph they are struggling with, which I then rewrite and send back to them. Today after coaching a student I received the following response: Ah thank you so much! I know you probably already know this, but Ill say it anyway. Youre an awesome writer! You made my life sound like a movie! Thanks again Do you know why I am so good at it? Because I had teachers who were relentless. Who made me write and rewrite and rewrite again. Who challenged me to push the boundaries of what I knew I could do to discover level after level of ability that lived within me waiting to be discovered and developed. This is why we do what we do. Not because we love to grade papers... but because we love you, because we believe in you, and because we know that you are capable of more than you possibly understand.
