When the lawmakers make a mockery of Themselves. On the Pension Probe by the Senate As a Senate we abhor corruption, we wont condone it we will punish it whenever we see it, it is our responsibility under the constitution under section 88 to expose corruption and we will continue to expose it and by exposing it we will strengthen our systems ---- Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba During the senate session, discussing the report on the probe about the monumental corruption on pension funds Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba got up and criticized those involved with harsh words and trying to uphold the integrity of the senate. What Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba has failed to realize is this, there are those who have the power to steal legally and those who do not have that power. The Senate is made up of 109 Senators and the lower House of Representatives 360 which brings the total to 469 people. While condemning corruption, the senator stood up and boasted that their budget is just =N=150 Billion and 3% of the Nigerian =N=4.7 Trillion annual budget. Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, the =N=150 Billion meant for the 469 Senators and House of Representatives members brings the average cost of salary and allowances per law maker to =N=319,829,424.30 (Three Hundred and Nineteen Miilion, Eight Hundred and Twenty Nine Thousand, Four Hundred and Twenty Four Naira Thirty Kobo) thats an equivalent of $2 Million a year in salary and allowances. We all know that the senate receives more in salary and allowances than the lower House of Representatives but I have used an average mean as the basis of this write up. Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba the percentage of the Senate and the lower House of Representatives to the Nigerian population of 173 million people is just 0.000271%, far less than 1%, far less than 0.5%, and far less than 0.001% and you boast of collecting 3% of =N=4.7 Trillion, yet you and your cronies are blaming those who stole from the Pension Funds what you fail to understand is that you are equally doing the same thing but in a legal way. You are all in the same shoes, there are two types of thieves as mentioned earlier, those who have the power to steal legally and those who steal as common thieves, but of the two the most dangerous one is the former because they arm twist the law by legally laying claim right to the loot and cannot be brought to justice. For your information Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, your salary and allowances are in excess of $2 million a year, the President of the United States receives $400,000.00 a year, the United States economy of about $16 Trillion and the biggest in the world and a per capital income of $53,143 and an equivalent of =N=8,237,165 and if you divide this figure by 12 months will give you the average income of $4,428.28 (=N=686,429.90) per month of the average person in the United States. Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, the Nigerian economy is $503 Billion and a per capital income of $3,000 (=N=465,000.00) and if you divide this by 12 months it will give you $250 (=N=38,750.00) average monthly salary of a Nigerian compared to you who receives an average of $172,064.516 (=N=26,670,000.00) per Month both in salary and allowances, if you do not know, you are equally stealing and robbing the nation and the Nigerian people through legal means. By the time you finish a four year term you would have received =N=1.280 Billion as Salaries and allowances, remember Nigerian Lawmakers are the highest paid in the world. Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, THE UNITED STATES ECONOMY IS 31.8 TIMES BIGGER THAN THE NIGERIAN ECONOMY, WHAT YOU MAKE IN A YEAR IS WHAT THE UNITED STATES PRESIDENT MAKES IN FIVE YEARS AND THE UNITED STATES SENATOR WHO IS PAID $174,000.00 MAKES IN 11.3 YEARS. THE NIGERIAN ECONOMY IS ONLY 3.1% COMPARED TO THAT OF THE UNITED STATES AND YOU BOAST THAT THE LAWMAKERS ARE BEING ENTITLED TO 3% OF HER ANNUAL BUDGET. WHAT AN IRONY!!!!!! When you are being paid =N=26.67 Million in an economy where the people live on less that $2 a day dont you know you are legally stealing and robbing them?, when an arm on the government consisting of only 469 people legally arm twists the whole nation and votes 3% of the annual budget to itself dont you know others will find a way to steal theirs too whether legally or illegally? If you must know, the Nigerian Legislative Arm of Government is one of the major causes of corruption in Nigeria. YOU ALL LACK CONSCIENCE AND THATS THE OBVIOUS TRUTH!! These are you words: 1. We have lost our values as a country, 2, our processes and system have failed, 3, our humanity has deserted us, 4, we have lost our souls as a nation ---Senator Ndoma-Egba If you so believe in those words you and the Senate will stop robbing Nigeria and her people.
