When the prophet Isaiah told us of the coming of the Messiah he said this, For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will be on his shoulders, and he will be called; Wonderful Counselor, Might God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. His government and its peace will never end. As we approach Christmas I am thankful that this prophecy has been fulfilled in Christ and in my own heart. Jesus has come to open the Kingdom of God to us, and one day He will come again to establish His rule and reign. But by faith that rule has already begun in me. Today we are so blessed that we can know what Christ has done and receive that work in us. As I come to Christmas I am so thankful that Jesus is my Counselor, God, Father, and Peace. He is the ruler and provider and guardian of my soul. Lord, thank you for coming into this world to save someone like me. Amen.
