When the sun is shining you might not be thinking about water leaking its way into a home; however, identifying water leaks and minimizing damage can keep your clients happy and away from the headaches of water losses. As a trusted partner, AdvantaClean is here to help when water damage happens. Here are three ways to identify a leak before it turns into a real problem: Check your appliances. Leaks can begin small. Invest a few moments of time to inspect each of your appliances that use water. Inspect the hoses for cracks or wear and inspect the surrounding walls and floor for any signs of previous water damage, like watermarks or swollen wood. Remember to look behind your refrigerator and washing machine. Check your water meter. Test your whole house by turning off all running water sources. This includes automatic water devices like dishwashers and washing machines. Next, go outside and record the reading on your water meter. Wait 15 minutes, being sure not to turn on any water during this time. Then go back outside and check the reading to see if any water was used during that time. If the meter moved there is a chance that you have water leaking from a water source in your home. Inspect your home. Even though there may not be a source of water in your bedrooms or basement, these areas should still be reviewed for early leak detection. Your roof or foundation can leak or these rooms may be sharing a wall with a leaky shower or dishwasher.
