When the whole disgusting Bill Cosby nastiness came up, and for the record I do believe the women, the name Beverly Johnson came up recently. When I saw her on TV I said, OMG, that is Beverly Johnson. Bruce looked at me and suddenly I became an instant historian on black women in style and fashion. For those who do not remember, Beverly Johnson broke the color barrier and became the first African-American woman to appear on the cover of U.S. Vogue. (As a foot note, the late Yves Saint Laurant was among the first designers to use black models on the runways.) Back in the day I read Vogue, WWD, Interview and Gentlemans Quarterly. Hell, I was bone thin and became a walking coat hanger. LOL.... No one believes that now, but that was then. I since became a grubby long suffering artist slash writer. But, I digress. Here is the amazing Beverly Johnson. She is also a brave woman too.
