Begin by sitting on a chair with with a tall, neutral spine. Your feet are hip width apart with the knees at a 90 degree angle. Contract the abdomen and squeeze your glutes as you stand up through your heels to the standing position. There should be absolutely NO momentum generated from the upper spine or shoulders to help you stand up!
