When you first start out on your fitness journey, your motivation - TopicsExpress

When you first start out on your fitness journey, your motivation level is usually pretty high. Over time, this can start to fade. How do you keep it up, when youre not feeling as fired up? The trick Ive found is to approach fitness with a performance-based focus, instead of an outcome-based focus. An example would be me working hard to build up curvy shoulders. It takes a long time to build muscle, and I may not see progress in the mirror for quite a while. So instead, I focus on the reps I do and the weight Im using. Every workout, I am focused on beating my own personal best. And it usually happens! I can usually squeeze out one more rep, or go up in weight on at least one exercise (usually more). That, in and of itself, is very satisfying! Before you know it, you are so busy being your own badass self, that you glance in the mirror one morning and see some nice, curvy shoulders! Enjoy the process! Get so lost in being amazed at what you can physically do that you arent even worried about the outcome.
