When you stand up and hold out your hand In the face what I dont - TopicsExpress

When you stand up and hold out your hand In the face what I dont understand My reason to be brave. ~Brave, by Josh Groban Today was my 1 year appointment with Lindsey, my Oncologist. After having breast cancer, and a double mastectomy, you see an oncologist every 6 months for 5 years and your surgeon every 6 months, for 2 years. This morning I was completely annoyed that I had to take time away from work. Like, seriously annoyed. HA! As I sat waiting, in my little poncho, snap-in-front, for her to come in, I was still annoyed and thinking about work. Lindsey opened the door and her eyes got big and she said YOU LOOK GREAT! How are you doing? You look different, somethings changed... I was taken back, and had to tell her that I was DOING GREAT! That it had been just over one year since my double mastectomy, and that I felt fine, and that emotionally, I am back! That was the change she saw, emotionally, Im back. She palpated my chest wall, and gave me the two thumbs-up... all is well and she found no new lumps. I started thinking about this entrance of hers, and my journey, physically and emotionally, since my diagnosis on July 19, 2013. I have to say it was a bit overwhelming and the annoyance I felt this morning, became pure gratitude. Marianne Winters, Kade Parkin and Chelsea Trim, Cancer Connection, Inc., LIVESTRONG, and to all the people who held out their hands to me, know that you were, and are, my reason to be brave. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you have given me. youtu.be/McdMwOV0y6c?list=PLJzuW6ZQS-mbAF8F7SKD9bnn_RoMPry4S
