Where the Opposition & PFDJ Agree: Ferocious Attack with Everything They Don’t Agree With and calling it Diplomacy! 1. The Ferocity with which the The Eritrean Opposition, self-delcared Activists and supporters received the report Eritrea - Drivers & Root Causes of Emirgration, National Service and The Possibility of Return is really mindboggling and at times really frightening! 2. This is not to say that I find the report well-researched and 100% correct; but still it is not a report that legitimizes a declaration of war against the researchers and Denmark. Why so many insults and derogatory terms? 3. PFDJ-supporters who amazingly seem to support this report, which if you read it carefully is talking about a dictatorial regime in Eritrea, are telling us that the UN and the Embassy representatives in the report who call themselves A, B, C, D (in democratic systems sources are mentioned with their real names) are trustworthy because they think -without reading the report very well- that the report support the totalitarian regime of Isaias Afwerki. The report, if it supports any group, supports only the desire of the Danish Government and other Western Governments to reduce the number of refugees that come to their own country. Are they wrong? 4. The following statement is by Professor Gaim who have writing crtical articles and books on the history of the national liberation fronts and the current situation. He is not a PFDJ-supp {{Kibreab, London, stated that over the past two to three years, “the government’s attitude towards National Service seems to be more relaxed”. It is now possible for evaders and deserters who have left Eritrea illegally to return if they pay the two percent tax and signs the apology letter at an Eritrean embassy. It was added that “in spite of this softer approach many evaders and deserters still do not dare to return to Eritrea”. However, Kibreab was aware of a few deserters from the National Service who have visited Eritrea and safely left the country again.}} I know professor Gaim Kebreab as some one who respects the truth. He has written critical books and articles about Eritrea and the current regime. 5. We all know that what is mentioned in 4 is true. I know myself people who have signed such a document and travel to Eritrea. Are these political refugees? 6. For those who are ready to undo their jacket of emotions and read the document thoroughly, the report has a welcome side to the cause of refugee protection and democratisation in Eritrea. Various activists including the recent released message of Aboy Queshi TekleMariam Merkatsion because of Hidartsion Idaga Arbi, have been calling on the Eritrean youth and rightly so, not to leave Eritrea and risk death and torture on their way to uncertain future outside their beloved country. 7. The opposition and the activists should thank the Danish researchers for visiting Eritrea and for trying to unearth the truth. Then people can tell them where the shortcomings of the report are and provide them with facts. But just shouting at them doesn’t make your case very strong. 8. It is also amazing (amusing) to see ‘foreigners’ behave more than Eritreans on both sides of the spectrum for various reasons. We have witnessed this partisanship during the armed struggle. There were foreigners who tried to behave as more EPLF than the EPLF towards the ELF Eritreans. Not much but there were also ELF-supporters who behaved more ELF than ELF when attacking the EPLF. 9. If the opposition and the civic movements fail to revive themselves with a 21st century paradigm shift in their thinking and approach, I am afraid, they will remain frozen where they are while the regime transforms itself to neutralize the possible uprising from inside the country. 10. As long as the situation for the people of Eritrea changes for the better and a rule of law finds a possibility to thrive in Eritrea for the betterment of the country and the people… Good weekend. nyidanmark.dk/…/0/EritreareportEndeligversion.pdf
