After a veeeeery long month of show prep, the Victor Valley Rock & Gem Show, the RFTF! 2014 Mojave Desert Odyssey and all of the fun of a family Thanksgiving that ran 4 days, Im back to the slab saw. The Show provided the best trading days Ive ever experienced, and I had just enough time today (between rain showers) to get out and slab a few chunks of the superlative Mexican Velvet obsidian that Id acquired at the Show. Yes, the light was terrible and waning, but orienting was no problem. Pics were difficult, since I could only manage front-lighting with a halogen work light, but heres some of the results.
