Which you would *think would inspire a thinking people to elect politicians that have some interest in expansion of job opportunities by enabling Main Street to actually create a few and allow for some *upward mobility* and leave the min wage jobs to the teenagers. But heck no. Were going to skip that and proceed directly to raising the min wage for a the tiny slice of the market it applies to regardless of all the evidence that it would increase unemployment for the same demographic, while again slanting the playing field in favor of big businesses more able to absorb the costs than small biz. To recap: We love the poor people so were providing them with #funemployment, yes? Yes. We hate big business so were handicapping their competition, yes? Yes. Were doing both of these things to duplicate a wage already present in the market, yes? Yes. Genius plan. None of this is to say that a minimum wage lifestyle is comfortable – it is not. And those who contend that it should be raised make compelling arguments (as do those who argue the opposite).
