Plenty of you have asked for it via direct msg, so here it is. Our runner-by-runner breakdown of this years Cox plate bit.ly/sAcHXH 1 FIORENTE A major threat in the race, but in our opinion drawing barrier 15 has really hurt his chances of winning. He will probably go back and will need to sustain a long run out wide if he is any chance to win. Needs luck and thats why hes drifted to $7 2 FORETELLER We have a feeling hes peaked this prep. We collected on him already in the Maykbe Diva Stakes at $15, and will be happy to lay him here. 3 GREEN MOON Appears to be the one horse going under the radar, and has been set for this race. Memsie & Underwood runs were solid. Can sustain a long run run - if they push forward and make it true staying affair taking off 800m, he could surprise. 4 HAPPY TRAILS Will get a good run just in behind the speed, and has the right form line leading in. Good each way chance, but we would like him a bit longer in the market to back him. Will need all the chips to fall perfectly into pace if hes to win this. 5 MASKED MARVEL Being aimed at the Cup, this a Lloyd Williams tune up. No. 6 MULL OF KILLOUGH God we hate Northern Hemisphere international form. They are hardly ever competitive in the Cox Plate and he lacks match fitness. No. 7 PUISSANCE DE LUNE Obviously talented galloper, but is this his grand final? Ben Melham will have to push well forward early if hes to have any chance, as he lacks the explosive sprinting ability of some of his rivals. $4.2 is unders. 8 REKINDLED INTEREST 3rd up into this after a fairly lacklustre Epsom run. Were they foxing? If he wins this well cop it sweet. No thanks. 9 SEVILLE Last start Metrop winner who lacks the class to win this. Can stay though, Place chance at best. 10 SIDE GLANCE 1st start in Australia, and in a Cox Plate no less. We dont care how hes been working. No thanks. 11 IT’S A DUNDEEL The horse most suited to a pressure filled 2040m at Moonee Valley, and clearly the one to beat. We took him at $8.5 prior to him beating Atlantic Jewel, but missing a run and coming into this race 3rd up with 5 weeks in between runs is big ask. 12 SUPER COOL Our pick for the race and represents great ew value at $21/5! 5th up, tick. 3-0 against the favourite Its a Dundeel in its career so far (including track & distance), tick. All 4 runs in this prep have been full of merit without winning. Should push forward from gate 14 and be very competitive. 13 ATLANTIC JEWEL - out 14 LONG JOHN He beat up a fairly substandard Guineas field, and we think hes ridiculous unders. Plenty of good judges are spruiking him, and theres been a tonne of money for him. Hes no Helmet, and hes no All Too Hard, and they couldnt win Australias premier WFA staying event either. Is he a So You Think or Savabeel? No. Pass. 15 SHAMUS AWARD No. Still a maiden. Will get back and be on the inside from barrier 3. Had his head to the side last start, and you cant have any chinks in your armour coming into a Cox Plate as 3yo. *DOUBLE THE ODDS on the Cox Plate from Ladbrokes!
