While I was incarcerated, I got involved in pro se - TopicsExpress

While I was incarcerated, I got involved in pro se litigation.....a fancy way of saying that I represented myself in legal matters. Evaluating facts and law requires the ability to make innocuous connections between something you read or heard today with something you read or heard somewhere else days or weeks ago. Having said that, let me give you a peek at a book idea I have: America is struggling under the leadership of a president who would be king....a man whos socialist leanings have put this country on a road towards a future never imagined by our forefathers....a man who, suprisingly enough, has supporters who want to give him absolute power to do whatever he wants. Encouraged by this, the president decides that he is going to give himself the power to invoke martial law at any point that he deems it necessary. No one really notices except the right wing nut jobs....whom no one listens to anyway. The president is further emboldened by the lack of response and decides that he is going to see how far he can go. To invoke martial law you need two things: a damn good reason, and the ability to position troops and material quickly and with the least amount of effort. Being a cunning man, he decides to authorize the transfer of excess military equipment to small town police departments all across the country, and then sits back to wait. Several months later an ebola outbreak (secretly caused by a company who had developed a possible vaccine for the effective treatment of ebola and wants to fast track it) in Western Africa provides him with the catalyst he needs to invoke martial law. American doctors treating ebola victims somehow contract ebola. The president gives authorization for these doctors to be brought to America for treatment while telling the public that an ebola epidemic in this country would be never happen. Within a short time. cases of ebola begin to pop up across the country and panick begins to take control of the country. The president declares martial law. Many rights are suspended, including habeas corpus. All elections are suspended. Sounds like a good plot to me. What do you think?
