While Im not a Vancouver native, and even though I was only there for 2 years, I do love the city mostly because of the folks that inhabit it. For a while working in the Gastown area, I got to know two men a little, they were always outside the bar I was doing sound in, guiding people in and managing the parking lot for spare change. I never got to know thier stories, but I enjoyed the opportunity to give them more than they expected when pulling change out of my pocket. They were nice guys, with obvious physical and mental health issues (like most of us), people none the less, but rarely did they get treated as such. This project is a beautiful reminder to judge less and be open to who is in our communities. My friend Georges did the music in this short film. The team behind it has come upon the opportunity to turn this concept into a web series.
