While people are enjoying their Labour Day weekend, I decided its time for some fall cleaning (decluttering). I managed to get started and got several things thrown out, posted for sale, given to charity and rehomed. Then I tackled Remis stud colt that has limited handling (hes two). I dont have a round pen which certainly would have progressed the task much faster, but even with the smaller pasture I was able to do successful Round Pen Reasoning. I think watching the progression is quite interesting for those who were there (thanks for the help keeping the colt from going into the wooded area to find reprieve from this alpha (me) - Michelle, Remi, and Pat.) After three hours (in which time I had told Michelle I would have the saddle on this boy), I was able to completely sack him out with a saddle blanket but the saddle was more than he could fathom at this time. I was able to bring it to him to sniff and could even have it touching him, but not able to raise to his back. Guess I have another 3 hours of work ahead of me tomorrow.... We did manage a campfire for about 15 minutes before the rain came in - albeit a short shower but enough to chase us inside. Earlier in my decluttering process I pulled out my mothers old silver items that are badly (severely to the point of being SOLID black) tarnished. I started cleaning the items and am impressed at the items now. An old set of salt & pepper shakers, a round serving dish holder (the dish is long gone) and a Old English oval tray. These items will need to go through the cleaning process again but its great to see them in their glory. Still to go from black to silver are two more items. Another round server (dish long gone) which is much older and heavier than the first item. Also a round cake server (on a pedestal). Hopefully I will get them through their first de-tarnishing tomorrow am and some more decluttering and selling tomorrow. Fencing Monday and this is why they call it Labour Day Weekend....right?
