While returning back to India at Mumbai airport I had to raise my voice to the lady custom official. At the intervention of senior official I toned down and apologised the lady official. However the lady was still furious. Her resentment was that when I raised my voice it was heard by many people however when I apologised no body heard other than her. There was a logic in what she said. Anyway we were able to patch up without me attracting any fine. Drawing the same analogy during election time I had observed that polarising comments are made in front of huge crowd by second rung politicians only to be contradicted mildly by top leaders saying as personal opinion . However the damage (polarisation) has been done and cannot be reversed and these politicians understand this well. Today during discussion on NDTV on Sanya Mirza issue (that she is daughter in law of Pakistan and hence doesnt deserve to be brand ambassador of Telengana) Kavita Krishnan went a little further and said that poisoning has been done and by mildly telling that this is not official position doesnt help. My view is that BJP has got clear mandate. Instead of getting distracted by such controversy they should continue working on the economic agenda. So far they have done well and hopefully effect of such embarrassing statement will be reversed by their subsequent good work.
