While surfing the web today, you know looking at cat videos, I discovered a website called Women Against Feminism. I am really angry about this so Im just gonna let it out. Social media style. Wtf. Seriously, wtf? What are these women thinking by saying they dont want feminism? Are they against womens suffrage too? They appear to not know what feminism means. Feminism is the belief that men and women should be treated equally and granted equal opportunities. Women in Texas are paid 82 cents for every dollar that men are paid. Women are constantly slut shamed and victims of abuse are often too ashamed to come forward against their abusers. And lets say this wasnt the case. Lets say that men and women are now completely equal. There is no wage gap and there is no more social stigma. Ok great. You still need feminism. Feminism doesnt die just because the goal is reached. The fact that we are equal is feminism at work, in fact, it is feminism. The fact that these girls can go post their photos online blasting feminism is all because feminists fought for their rights to have their own opinions. Just because you might disagree with a few feminists doesnt mean you should bash the idea of equality. Just because you want to stay at home and raise children doesnt mean you should wish for less rights as a human. Whether you want to be a housewife or a CEO, women need feminism. And idk what is going on out there, this world sometimes scares me, but the idea that we can throw away an idea that made it possible for me to be me....just straight pisses me off. Rant over.
