While walking from the store, I saw a lady trip over the curb, landing in the street with her things strewn about. Myself and several other people ran to her aid. She cut her face and was bleeding profusely from over her eye. I called the police and the lady sat there, crying and confused. Fortunately we were able to call her daughter as well and her daughter arrived shortly thereafter. While assisting her, we found out she was 65. All I could think of was my own mother and how when I looked into the womans eyes, I saw my mother. The strangers and I, along with this woman immediately became family as we sought to calm her down and provide support. In that moment, her children wasnt there to help her, but WE became her children. She didnt have to be my blood mother for me to feel at that moment she was family. The people we walk past on a daily basis are in fact related to us, maybe not by blood, but definitely by spirit as we are all created by God. I would pray that if any of my blood family were in trouble and knew no one, that anyone of you, if you could, would come to their aid and treat my family as your family, and I would do the same for you. We really do need to realize that at the end of the day, being the children of God makes us all family.
