Whilst many organisation, yesterday spent June 16 in a song and dance. The IFPYB held an education summit "THE RIGHT TO EDUCATION: a fundamental right threatened" I wish the youth of SA couldve been present there, to acknowledge the true significance of June 16. I now truelly understand the "student uprising".....a nd EDUCATION is indeed and righfully so an important must have. It is said to think that today our countries education is ranked second to last in mathametics and science, and fifth to last overall. This to me gives a clear indication that our government doesnt really understand the significance of this day....with every minister wanting to outsmart the other introducing new systems (what happened to obe) and strategising on increasing the pass rate by decreasing the pass percentage to just a mere 30%.....and then they ask themselves why students are finding it difficult to obtain varsity entrance. The education system is indeed in a crisis.
