Whimsical Cake Gyaan ! What is a whimsical Cake ? Heavy cakes - TopicsExpress

Whimsical Cake Gyaan ! What is a whimsical Cake ? Heavy cakes on sharp angles as if they will topple down defines the whimsical nature. From second layer onwards steep angles should begin, no thermocol or plastic toys should be used. It is science and Art of decorating cakes. Why you should not learn on thermocol ? Because when you will attempt with real cake, you will be clueless about balancing the heaviness of real iced cake and your knowledge of armature would be missing. What is the difference between a gravity defying and Whimsical? Defying gravity as the name suggests, these cakes creates an illusion that from a thin thing a heavy cake is suspended in air like in our theme genie coming out of thin smoke and holding the palace (cake) in air. However in whimsical we use proper base and then from second layer we start toppling at sharp angles. I have been told that if you learn to balance cakes on thermocol, you can do that on real cake also? This is utter nonsense dished out to you! If this was the case then you never need to learn anywhere, cut thermocol pieces keep piling them on each other. Whosoever tells you this, then ask them if there is no difference then why not we learn on real cakes instead of thermocol. I have been told that only top layer is tilting in whimsical cakes? As I said earlier, from second layer steep angles should start, that is typical about wonky/whimsical nature. I just compiled these questions based on the calls in last 3 days! if you think I have not addressed any question, please feel free to comment below. Happy Crafting xx Rakesh
