Who exactly are AKB48? Theyre idols who meet and interact with their fans! Theyre the most popular idols in all of the world! In 2012, the anime based upon these well-known idols, AKB0048 launched on select Japanese television stations in March that year, this intergalatic story with a mix of Footloose meets American Idol meets The Facts of Life takes place in a future where all entertainment, even the arts, are banned, a band of girls known as AKB0048 perform illegal concerts in order to fight off an anti-entertainment group known as the DES. Okay, I know Really Hope, really?, but I just finished the first series yesterday and I am in love with the anime and the story and the concept, these girls are basically rebels.
