Who says all abandoned rails have to be on dry land? Here is a photo I took in August 1980 in Kewaunee, Wis of the Ann Arbor RR Viking car ferry. Note the modern (for that period) AA ferry logo on the stack. In April 1982 AA ended the car ferry operation and the Viking never carried a railcar again. Per Boatnerd (see link below) it resides in Menominee, Michigan and likely will not sail again.
