He was the leading researcher of Metallic Wood Boring Beetles in the region and had discovered several new species during his tenure there. He braved some very remote, violent areas that resulted in the murder of his research partner and necessitated a surrounding guard of machete armed natives whenever he left his hut, but for him it was a labor of love that was worth the price.
