Whoa, Shane Green looked pretty good last night! If you read the scouting capsule I posted about him earlier in the season, the changes to his mechanics have CLEARLY made a continuing difference. He does NOT look like the same guy as pre-season. For one his fringy sinker is now a 92-95mph big league pitch. He got a TON of very meek contact off it. With a solid 3rd pitch in his arsenal I feel pretty confident hell stick as a starter now. Also his velocity has SPIKED. His mid 80s slider was running up to 90 mph(!) thats crazy. His FB was running up to 96-97Mph. Cleaner mechanics have clearly allowed him to use his big body to better effect in generating force. It always seemed strange to me that a guy that big couldnt throw harder. Now as I understand it, his control still comes and goes. It was there last night for sure but it could vanish next time out. Anyways I think he pitched well enough to keep Whitleys spot in the rotation for now, amiright? Thoughts?
