Why Should We Pray? Have you ever felt like prayer is pointless? Sometimes you feel like your prayers are not being heard, sometimes you think, that if God knows everything already, then why do we need to pray? I think all Born Again Believers, if they have been saved for any period of time, have had these feelings, at one time or another. Maybe they have prayed and prayed for something and yet the opposite keeps happening. So they get to a point of why pray? I know that I have been there. Prayer is simply communication with God. It is not a big ceremony, like some churches try to make it. It is not saying words just right, so that God has to do what you ask. It is not working up a faith from yourself, to believe that God will do what you want. Yes, prayer is simply talking to God. In order to have a healthy relationship with another person, we must talk to one another. Talk, not lecture or just listen, using meaningless words! What kind of relationship would you have with someone, if you did all the talking or all the listening, or just answered with yes or no? Yes, it might be a relationship, but not a truly loving bonding relationship, the kind that bonds both of you together, in love. In the same way, we must talk with the Father to have a thriving, loving and bonding relationship with Him. Its easier than it seems. Just start with giving Him thanksgiving for your life, and all the wonderful things in life that you enjoy. After all God gave it all to you from His love..... Then talk to Him about all that is bothering you, He eagerly wants to hear it from you! Then make time to quietly wait upon Him to speak to you. Listening to God through His Word, as He, by the leading of the Holy Spirit, leads you to Truth from Scripture that speaks to your heart. Listening to God as we wait quietly for His voice, that brings His Words to you from His Word. Hebrews 4:16 Therefore let us draw near with confidence (knowing that God wants to hear and help us) to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 11:1-6 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. 2 For by it the men of old gained approval. 3 By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible. 4 By faith Abel offered to God a better sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained the testimony that he was righteous, God testifying about his gifts, and through faith, though he is dead, he still speaks. 5 By faith Enoch was taken up so that he would not see death; AND HE WAS NOT FOUND BECAUSE GOD TOOK HIM UP; for he obtained the witness that before his being taken up he was pleasing to God. IMPORTANT: 6 And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him. Even though the Evil ones will try to make you FEEL just the opposite, that God does not love you or reward you. Putting all kinds of evil thoughts into your mind, or by pointing to circumstances and situations and saying if God really loved you, He would answer your prayers for this or that! Giving you what you wanted in the way and time you want it! All of these thoughts, MUST be rejected by our Shield of Faith. Remember we LIVE by Faith, not by Feelings and not by circumstances or situations. When Jesus died on the cross and took our sins and gave us His Righteousness, the Righteousness of God.....He also gave us Saving Faith, that we are to live by. Romans 10:17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ. Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. Hebrews 10:37-39 FOR YET IN A VERY LITTLE WHILE, HE WHO IS COMING WILL COME, AND WILL NOT DELAY. 38 BUT MY RIGHTEOUS ONE SHALL LIVE BY FAITH; AND IF HE SHRINKS BACK, MY SOUL HAS NO PLEASURE IN HIM. 39 But we are not of those who shrink back to destruction, but of those who have faith to the preserving of the soul.
