Why are we saying "This is my F-P-C"? On Kick-off Sunday, Sept. - TopicsExpress

Why are we saying "This is my F-P-C"? On Kick-off Sunday, Sept. 8, the entire experience, and indeed the entire fall sermon series that begins that day, is inspired by the advertising slogan “This is my H-E-B,” used by the well-known local grocery store chain, H-E-B. In our case, we are saying “This is My F-P-C” to underscore the fact that together, we have a commitment to worship, grow, and serve one another, our neighborhood, the entire city, and the world around us by making Jesus visible. First Presbyterian Church belongs to all of us; we have a role to play in God’s mission of love to the world, and this congregation needs each and every one of us working together in order to make that happen. Yes, this is our FPC because we are privileged to make Jesus visible collectively and individually. We’ll be telling stories to celebrate ministry that has started through the committed efforts of First Pres people, and dream about ways that God continues to use First Pres people to begin new ministry initiatives that are desperately needed in our community and around the world. We have heard from many of our local mission partners, who have shared stories of gratitude about the ways that the people of First Pres have made Jesus visible in their ministries, and for that reason, they also are proud to say, “This is My F-P-C.” Watch for those stories! One has already appeared in the Sept. edition of First Press. Where do you fit in to First Presbyterian’s mission of making Jesus visible? Find out this fall.
