The topic of creation/evolution remains in the news and in many - TopicsExpress

The topic of creation/evolution remains in the news and in many ways – not just with my well-publicized February 4 debate with Bill Nye “The Science Guy.” Here is another example, from the Daily Beast website. An article discusses the state legislature of Virginia and the teaching of origins in state schools. As is often the case about evolution being taught in public schools, this web article made many falsehoods. For example, there are many inaccuracies related to the 1925 Scopes trial in Tennessee. After you read the Daily Beast web article (link is below), compare it to this article: answersingenesis.org/articles/2005/07/11/scopes-monkey-trial . You’ll then see the many false claims in the Daily Beast article. For one: in Tennessee in 1925, evolution WAS being allowed to be taught in the public schools, from molecules to mammals---it was just that the evolution of man from an ape-like ancestor was not permitted. But the rest of evolution was NOT outlawed. What a huge mistake. This Daily Beast article also falsely accuses creationists of trying to get evolution out of the classroom. I don’t know of any serious creationist organization that is seeking it. Actually, the Daily Beast piece is a big con. It’s as if this author and other evolutionists don’t want children to be taught how to think critically about origins. Now, there is another sad aspect to this Daily Beast article. It was written by Karl Giberson. He was a professor at a Nazarene university, was one of the heads of BioLogos (a group promoting theistic evolution), and now writes and speaks out strongly against those of us who believe in a literal Genesis. The falsehoods in his article show he has not done his proper research and that he believes the same untruths we have seen secularists pushing for years in the culture. Such media misrepresentations have been going on for too long! I just hope my debate with Bill Nye, which will be live streamed at no cost, will help students and the general public become much better educated about creation and evolution. Make sure you get people to watch the debate—direct them to debatelive.org I have linked to the Daily Beast article thedailybeast/articles/2014/01/19/creationism-s-latest-trojan-horse-edges-toward-virginia-schools.html
