Why change to call myself a wholistic GP and a move away from the - TopicsExpress

Why change to call myself a wholistic GP and a move away from the term integrative medicine? Im not sure I like the way integrative medicine is moving and the association/image that comes with it. Although I originally studied complementary medicine, specifically western herbal medicine, I really do consider myself a GP. I like medicine and I like what I have achieved. I like that I can diagnose serious disease, do minor surgery, advocate for my patients on a legal level, work in Indigenous health etc. I also like that I can help patients utilising wholistic philosophy and complementary therapies. Sometimes I think that integrative medicine almost rejects orthodox medicine - this is not me. I appreciate both and am proud to call myself a GP. As such I am using the title wholistic GP, as to me this better represents what I practice, the philosophy I believe in and a title I think reflects who I am as a clinician.
