Why is it that when it involves ourselves that were so hesitant to - TopicsExpress

Why is it that when it involves ourselves that were so hesitant to post and ask for prayers? We have been going through a tough time with Don these past few weeks (along with trying to move to our new place). He was diagnosed with Parkinsons Disease five years ago. Got a second opinion up at Loyola University by another neurologist at that time. She diagnosed it as Essential Tremor. We were happy and very satisfied with that diagnosis. Unfortunately, things have been going downhill very fast for Don. He has lost strength so was unable to do much with the move, has some confusion, some loss of perception and the classic symptoms of Parkinsons. So we headed back to the Dr. a few weeks ago and he was put on the medication for the disease. Unfortunately, he has a very hard time taking this medication because it makes him so nauseated. So he would take it maybe once a day, but nothing consistent. This past week he fell twice in two days hitting his head both times. After the first fall, I called the neurologist and was told to watch him closely for signs of confusion, disorientation, etc. If he showed any of them, the Dr. wanted him taken to the ER immediately in case he was having a stroke or a brain bleed. He was doing somethings downstairs on Thursday and came up with his hand bleeding and told me that he had fallen again and hit his head this time too (and obviously cut his finger during the fall). So I immediately called the Dr. and followed up with a trip to the ER. He was not triaged but taken in very soon after arrival for a CT scan of the head and neck (the neck was what was hurting him the most). The CT scans came back OK ~ Dr. said that he had concussions from the falls. They decided to keep him overnight for observation. Its now Sunday night (almost Monday a.m.) and hes still in. Rehab is to assess him tomorrow to see if he needs to be admitted to their unit, sent to a nursing home for rehab, or sent home and having outpatient therapy somewhere. So Im really sincerely asking for your prayers. Weve seen the results of Parkinsons in my dad (and many others) and its not a pretty disease. I pray that Ill have the patience that will be needed to endure, that the medication can be tolerated, that it will help his symptoms, and that life can somewhat be a bit of normalcy again. Least of all, that I can one day feel settled in our new abode without the box hazard that is presently going on.
