Wild Animals in Uttarakhand OCT 9, 2014 BY ADMIN It is very sad we fought for our new state Uttarakhand. Fortunately we got it but at present there is no separate state in the hills. The state shrink-ed its boundaries upto the cities and towns. Today I saw the attack of monkey forces to the fields of Pahari people in Kot valley of district Pauri Garhwal. There was no option with the peasant to throw them out. All yields like maize, vegetables and what not they destroyed. There is not only monkeys but Guldars, wild pigs, birds and so many kind of animals which are compelling these small farmers to leave their traditional agriculture or livelihood. Who is responsible for that The state government? The National Policies to protect wild life like monkeys and wild pigs on the cost of these poor small farmers who have no other option to stay in these hills. Migration of the area is increasing day by day. But no body is serious about this. The leaders, bureaucrats, educationists and other important people have gone away. I want to ask Mr. Chief Minister Mr. Harish Rawat 1. Should we leave the area? 2. There is any option to rehabilitate these small farmers from these hill to any other place for survival. C.S.
